Gastro Diagnostic Evaluation in Jalandhar — A Diagnosis, Not a Test List

A structured workup that starts with the history and orders only what the history justifies. The output is a diagnosis and a plan, not a folder of reports.

What it isA structured clinical workup combining history, examination, blood tests, imaging and endoscopic investigation, targeted to your specific symptoms.
Who needs itChronic abdominal pain, persistent diarrhoea, GERD, unexplained weight loss, anaemia, abnormal liver tests, blood in stool, or complex symptoms with no clear diagnosis.
How it worksAfter a thorough consultation, Dr. Ankit designs a targeted plan and sequences the tests to minimise delays and repeat visits.
OutcomeA clear diagnosis, a treatment plan and a follow-up schedule. Every result is personally reviewed and explained.
Sequenced to save visits Targeted, not blanket testing One doctor throughout FibroScan same day
When It Is Needed

Symptoms That Deserve a Proper Workup

Many patients in Jalandhar self-medicate with antacids or general advice for years before anyone looks properly. These are the symptoms where that costs you.

Chronic abdominal pain

Pain that has lasted months, changed character, or wakes you at night needs a cause identified rather than managed.

Persistent diarrhoea or constipation

More than four weeks of altered bowel habit warrants investigation, not another course of tablets.

Reflux not responding to antacids

If months of PPIs have not worked, the diagnosis may not be reflux. Endoscopy settles it.

Unexplained weight loss

Losing weight without trying is a red flag that always justifies a full workup.

Anaemia with no obvious cause

Iron deficiency in an adult usually means blood loss somewhere in the GI tract until proven otherwise.

Abnormal liver enzymes

Raised ALT or AST found on a routine blood test is often the first sign of liver disease. FibroScan is the next step.

Your Visit

How the Evaluation Runs

Consultation first, tests second. The order is not arbitrary — it is what keeps the test list short.

First visit

Consultation

  • Detailed history: symptoms, timing, diet, medication, family history
  • Clinical examination and review of every previous report you bring
  • A working differential diagnosis, not a blanket test order
  • The plan and its sequence explained before anything is booked
Investigation

Targeted testing

  • Blood panel chosen for the differential, not a standard package
  • Abdominal ultrasound and FibroScan where the liver is in question
  • Endoscopy or colonoscopy only where the history warrants it
  • Tests sequenced so one visit can cover several
Outcome

Diagnosis and plan

  • Every result reviewed personally by Dr. Ankit, not delegated
  • What each finding means, explained in plain terms
  • A treatment plan with a defined follow-up date
  • Referral onward only where genuinely required

The Pieces

Components of a GastroNova Evaluation

Six components, assembled to fit the case rather than run as a package.

Clinical consultation

The most informative part, and the one most often skipped elsewhere. Symptoms, diet, medication and family history in detail.

Targeted blood panel

Chosen against the differential — liver function, coeliac serology, iron studies, inflammatory markers, as relevant.

Abdominal ultrasound

First-line imaging for gallstones, liver texture, biliary dilation and organ size.

FibroScan

Liver stiffness and fat quantified in five minutes, same day, at GastroNova Clinic. More on FibroScan.

Upper GI endoscopy

For reflux, ulcers, H. pylori, dysphagia and unexplained upper abdominal symptoms.

Colonoscopy

For bleeding, altered bowel habit, screening and IBD. More on colonoscopy.

Bring every old report, even the normal ones

Normal results are as useful as abnormal ones — they close off possibilities and stop tests being repeated. Bring blood work, ultrasounds, previous endoscopy or colonoscopy reports, and a written list of everything you take, including over-the-counter antacids and ayurvedic preparations. A well-prepared first visit routinely saves a whole round of investigation.

What a full workup keeps finding

Fatty liver turns up in workups that started somewhere else entirely

A large share of patients who come in for reflux, bloating or fatigue leave with an incidental fatty liver diagnosis, because the workup included a FibroScan and nobody had ever looked. Treating it is mostly diet, which is the practical problem that led Dr. Ankit to formulate Hepatolean Advance Liver Pro+ — sugar-free, with choline, myo-inositol, L-carnitine, magnesium and vitamin E. If your evaluation turns up fatty liver, it will be discussed as part of the plan rather than sold to you.

Patient FAQs

Gastro Diagnostic Evaluation — Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the whole evaluation take?
The first consultation is a single OPD visit. Blood work and FibroScan can usually be done the same day. If endoscopy or colonoscopy is needed, that is a separate scheduled visit, so most evaluations complete within one to two weeks.
Will I be sent for every test?
No, and that is deliberate. Blanket testing produces incidental findings that lead nowhere and cost you money. The consultation narrows the differential first, and only the tests that answer a real question are ordered.
Do I need to fast for the first visit?
Not for the consultation itself. If a FibroScan is likely, two hours of fasting is enough. Blood tests may need longer, and you will be told at booking.
Who explains the results?
Dr. Ankit personally reviews every result and explains what it means. You are not handed a folder and sent to interpret it yourself.
What should I bring?
All previous reports including normal ones, a written list of every medication and supplement, and a note of your symptoms — how long, how often, and what makes them worse.
What if nothing is found?
That is a useful result, not a failure. Normal investigations point towards functional conditions like IBS, which have their own effective treatment. The important thing is that the dangerous causes have been excluded properly.
