Seeing a gastro doctor in Jalandhar
What it costs, when the OPD actually runs, what to carry, and what the first fifteen minutes look like. Most clinic websites leave all of this out and let you find out at the desk.
What actually happens, start to finish
Roughly an hour end to end on a normal evening. The times below are honest averages, not a promise — an emergency in the middle of OPD changes everything.
Reach the desk
Give your name and phone number. If you have booked by phone you are on the list; if not, you are added to the end of it. No online form, no app.
2 minWait
Evening OPD at GTB Nagar is busiest in the first hour after 5 pm. If you want the shortest wait, come after 6:30 pm or on a Sunday morning.
20–40 minThe consultation
History first, examination second, reports third — in that order, because the history is what usually gives the diagnosis. Bring someone with you if the patient is elderly.
10–15 minWhat happens next
Either a prescription and a follow-up date, or a test. If a scope is needed it is usually booked at Innocent Hearts for a separate morning, not done the same evening.
5 minFour things worth the trouble
The commonest reason a visit ends with “come back with your reports” is that the reports were at home.
Every old report, even the useless-looking ones
Blood tests, ultrasound films, discharge summaries, previous endoscopy reports. Bring the originals in a folder, not photographs on a phone.
The actual medicine strips
Not a list. The strips show dose and brand, and half the time the dose on the list is wrong. Include anything bought over the counter for acidity.
Someone who can drive you home
Only if a scope is planned. Sedation means you cannot ride a two-wheeler or drive yourself for the rest of that day.
Your questions, written down
Ten minutes goes quickly and people forget the thing they came to ask. Three written questions get better answers than twenty remembered ones.
Asked at the desk, most days
How much is the consultation?
What do endoscopy and colonoscopy cost here?
Can I just walk in without booking?
Which centre should I go to?
Is there an emergency number at night?
Do you consult online?
Two centres, one doctor
OPD hours are different at each. Check before you travel — and bring every old report you have, even the ones you think are useless.

These four pages answer different questions. None of them repeat this one.
Hepatolean is not sold at the clinic
People ring this number to order Hepatolean Advance Liver Pro+, the sugar-free liver-care protein Dr. Ankit formulated. It is not stocked at either centre and the desk cannot take orders for it — the product, its ingredients and its delivery live on hepatolean.com. Anything clinical about your liver, bring to the OPD instead.
Booking is a phone call, not a form.
One number for both centres. Ring the day before if you can — it usually saves you an hour in the waiting room.
